Director's Message
This month we dedicate our e-bulletin to our Perth showroom and West Australian client Angas Securities. Our Perth showroom has been providing contemporary Australian art to businesses, government offices and private residential clients since it opened in 1992. It has provided a much needed link with our head office in Sydney to a strong arts community in the West and continues to promote and nurture a growing clientele keen to become involved in the visual arts.
Our Perth showroom was the first satellite base to be opened outside of Sydney and currently holds approximately 350 available works at any given time. Our West Australian art consultant Mariyon Slany is available to assist you with viewing the collection and providing consultation services.
Often over the months of December and January many commercial galleries close for a well deserved rest. However, for those of you still hankering to view contemporary art come and visit us at the Artbank showrooms in Perth and Melbourne.
On behalf of the Artbank Board and staff we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and joyful holiday season.
Geoffrey Cassidy
Director

Artbank at Angas Securities, WA
The option of choosing from a collection of over 10,000 artworks for a new office fit-out was the incentive for Perth based Angas Securities Director Kim Lyons to visit Artbank’s office in Perth.
Angas Securities is a successful commercial financier and debenture issuer with offices in Perth , Adelaide and the Gold Coast. With a new office fit-out in stark black, white and charcoal, Kim decided some well-placed artwork would enhance the new environment.
While Kim is familiar with West Australian artists, both from developing his own personal art collection and regularly visiting Perth galleries and other art rental services, he decided Atbank’s range of styles, mediums and prices was the most suitable. Kim says the choice at Artbank was “more in keeping with what I had in mind and with a very much broader choice than anything I’ve seen elsewhere”.
A work that immediately appealed to Kim was the 2.5 metre high Mac Betts’ work Blue Ridge. Its grandeur is a highlight in the area adjoining the long staircase, whilst still remaining part of the main office.
Another work selected for the new office is Classical Study by Richard Hook, a gently abstracted nude which has been placed between two windows. Both of these works highlight the architectural and design features in the new office.
Frances Peck’s Chickens is engaging in the meeting room. Its subject matter and warm pink tones give a cosy feel to this room with its white walls and table, and strong black leather chairs. Beautifully complementing this is the Indigenous work by Takariya Napaltjarri entitled Women’s Ceremonies with its earthy browns and pinks working well with the Peck artwork.
For employees at Angas Securities the value of the art is not its dollar figure but its ability to inspire, delight and have a positive effect on staff wellbeing.
Postscript: Sadly Mac Betts (1932-2010), one of West Australia’s most eminent artists, passed away just days before the installation of his beautiful work.
